Stencil Application Instructions (Multi-Use with Adhesive Backing)

Tools Needed

  • Painters Tape (any tape that will not permanently stick to surface)
  • Measuring Tape
  • Pencil
  • Paper towels or cloths for cleaning.

Step 1

Begin by removing the backing paper with the stencil face down. Place the stencil in the desired area. The adhesive on the back is re-positionable, if it’s not straight it can be placed again.

Pull off any transfer tape that may be on the stencil in the areas that do not have bridges, we place transfer tape on top, it’s a good idea to keep this so that the stencil can be used multiple times easily. Light tack masking tape is also a good alternative to transfer tape.

Step 2

Line the edges of the stencil up to your markings and press stencil firmly in place. Make sure the cutout areas are firmly sealed to the surface (we don't want paint to seep behind the stencil).

Step 3

You are now ready to begin the fun part; Painting!

The best method for painting a stencil is the blotting method or dabbing method. Airbrushing is also a great painting method. Rolling or spray painting can cause serious bleed through, because of the amount of paint used or pressure used while rolling.

The Finale

As soon as the stencil is painted pull off and place stencil to the side to use again. If there is any bleed through take a small artist paint brush and some base coat and touch up areas that have bleed through.
