Prepare
the stencil by peeling off the stencil backing so that the adhesive side is
exposed.
Next peel the transfer tape away from the stencil at an angle, being careful that small pieces stay adhered to your project surface. If something does start to release then re-press with your finger and slowly peel away that area until the tape separates with success.
Press the stencil to the fabric surface. Use tape if there is little space between the side of the stencil and the fabric (you don't want a chance that your paint will get outside of the stencil and this is especially helpful if your buying stencil packs and are cutting elements out of the pack.) |

|
Make sure the cutout areas are firmly sealed to the surface (you don't want paint to seep behind the stencil). Also, place a piece of cardboard behind the fabric so that if paint leeches thru the fabric it will not stain other parts of the fabric You are now ready to begin the fun part; Painting! Using a brush, we usually use foam, dapple or blot the paint onto the stencil, being careful not to lay too much paint on at a time or to press too hard as this may force paint up under the stencil pattern design. |

|
Once your satisfied that you have coated the fabric well you can wait a bit to let the paint set up but we usually immediately remove the stencil.

Once you have removed all the stencil from the fabric set the project away to dry. Fabric paint drys typically in a few hours. Most paints recommend 24-72 hours for the paint to cure. We recommend overnight or 24 hours, at least. We have had great success with just a day of cure time. After the paint has dried wash the fabric and dry it in an electric or gas dryer thoroughly.
Voila! Your done. A permanent design has now been added to your piece of fashion. |
